As a busy artist, you want to take care of your dog and make sure they are happy. This can be hard when you have so many obligations in your day-to-day life. To help with this, we put together some tips that will keep both of you happy!
Keep them active
A tired pup is a good pup – provide them with time outside or even on walks around the block for fresh air and exercise.
Make dinner time their special time
Set aside 15 minutes every night before dinner to play with and feed your pet throughout the week. Playtime helps relieve stress and allows them to spend quality bonding time with their human family members!
Measure what works
One way to make sure you’re on track with your dog’s needs is to measure their food and exercise for two weeks. Then, see if they are eating or exercising less than usual – adjust accordingly!
Schedule time for them
It may not be feasible to take the pup out every day during work hours but try setting aside three days a week to walk them.
Consider a second pet
If you have the resources, adding another dog to your pack can help with separation anxiety for both pets while still giving them enough attention!
Ask neighbors or friends for help
If they are unable to take off work but want your pup loved on during the day, ask if they can take them for a walk or play with them. This way, you both benefit from the pup getting some fresh air and love!
If your dog is being destructive while you are at work, find ways to keep him busy such as giving him puzzle toys that he needs to move around in order to get treats out of.
Make sure they are safe
Keep your pup in a crate when you leave them at home alone. If there is no way to do this, make sure all chemicals or anything toxic is out of reach and consider putting the dog on anti anxiety medication if necessary!
Be flexible with their schedule
As animals become older, it may be harder to take them on walks or get up early for a trip outside. However, it may also not be feasible for you to come home at lunch time every day – try finding someone who can do this instead!
Talk with your vet
If you want help adjusting their food and exercise schedule, talk with your veterinarian about the best way to do this for your dog.
Get them a gift
The holidays are coming up! If you want to make sure they know how much you care, get them an activity or puzzle toy that will stimulate their mind and keep them busy during the day while you’re gone.
Consider a pet sitter
If you want someone who can take care of your pup while you’re at work, consider hiring a professional pet sitter or asking if they would be able to watch them for an hour or two when you are at work.
